Mapapu means wings.
It's a Lingala word. Growing up in the streets of Kinshasa, we stopped whatever we were doing every time a plane crossed the sky. That sound did something to us. We couldn't get on board — so we made our own wings, out of palm leaves and papaya fronds and anything else that would catch the air, and we ran with our arms open until we were somewhere else. That feeling — that you could go anywhere — is the whole company. Mapapu gives you wings. Travel beyond limits.
